hot off the presses, baby

Wow, y'all!
This summer has flown by! It is hard to believe that it is already the beginning of August.
So much has been happening since we moved into our new space... and we have been LOVING it!

We've been busy as bees unpacking boxes, tricking the shop out, having some fun projects to design, helping our beautiful customers, preparing for our official City ribbon cutting {and then celebrating it's success! ... more pics to come}, traveling to Atlanta market {where I'm pretty sure we ordered the whole market back here!}... and now getting ready for our GRAND OPENING party on September 1st and the launch of our online shop!

We have been so humbled and grateful for the success that our new location has brought us. We really do have a lot we want to share with you, {all so fun and exciting! } and so we will just have to get better at this whole blogging thing. {Scout's honor! ....Does it even matter that I wasn't a Girl Scout?!?}

In the meantime, we want to give a big thank you to the wonderful women over at the coolest e-zine around - House of Fifty - for featuring us on the cover and including us inside their second issue!
If you haven't seen it yet, you're missing out, my friend! I've been following some of the featured ladies' blogs for years... and it was an honor to have Mayme included amongst them.

Read it here and prepare to feast your eyes on delicious eye candy on every page!

We sincerely want to thank everyone for the warm welcome to the Cleveland Street neighborhood and for hangin' in there with us during our transition.

We're excited to be here and can't wait to see what the future brings!

go shorty! it's your birthday...

...we're going to party like it's Katie's birthday!

Tomorrow, Katie turns 30! We decided that today would be the perfect day to celebrate, and this morning we tricked out Katie's desk, Mayme Baker style!

Katie came in shortly after and couldn't get enough of her chocolate prizes we had left her all over. As Mayme likes to say, "chocolate is the opposite of evil and should be eaten often and with wild abandon."- Amen to that!

The day got much sweeter when dear Miss Andrea from Divine Desserts came in and brought us one of her scrump cakes. "Scrump" is an understatement - these cakes are to die for. They are so flavorful, delicious and moist- definitely the BEST CAKES in town! If you haven't called her yet, you're majorly {or as Rachel Zoe says, "MAAH-jorly"} missing out.
Our favorite? - Coconut Cream...but her Divine Strawberry & Chocolate Lovers cakes are not too shabby, either!

Locally, you can find slices of her cakes at Word of Mouth and Rainer's, but you can also order full ones in many of sizes online {http://divinedessertsbyandrea.com/desserts} or by phone {864.346.7793}. Tell her the girls at Mayme Baker Studio sent you!

Word of Mouth - 10 Aberdeen Drive, Greenville, SC 29605
Rainer's - 610-A S. Main Street, Greenville, SC 29601

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATIE!! Hope your 30's are the best yet.
You CAN have your cake and eat it too!

this one's for the birds

Birds.
Tweet-tweet-le-dee!
Those who know me personally understand that my heart skips a beat at the sight of anything to do with birds - {well, besides actual real ones... whoops}!
I LOVE birds - all shapes, sizes, colors and kinds... and apparently, I am not the only one with this fetish with the nesters. {Enter Mayme Baker, please... after all, "birds of a feather..."}

Much to my delight, our shop is covered with the most wonderful bird accessories and items that can give me my daily dose of feathered friends.

And, it's hard to contain my excitement about these new additions to the flock -

I think it'd be putting it pretty lightly to say that '{some}one flew over the cuckoo's nest' with the arrival of all these beauties! ;)

what a feeling

Remember the feeling you used to get when you were a little girl {or boy} and it was either, say, Christmas morning or your birthday? Remember the anticipation of the opening the gifts and the giddiness that ensued once you started ripping like a ravenous beast through the package to see what was inside?

Well... fast forward to today, {and twenty- something odd years later}, and that kind of scene was happening. Except this time, it wasn't Christmas or anyone's birthday - it was our market orders that have been trickling in and filling up our studio!

Here's a sneak peek of what's gotten me all excited...

Do these bright colors get you like they get me? Yum!

As I type, boxes are still being unwrapped - so, more deliciousness to come soon!

if the shoe fits

As most of you know, babies are on our brain. Well, more like... in our studio!

And, it just so happened that we got the most adorable shoes in this week - and no, I'm not talking about the kind that you'd see SATC's Carrie prancing around in on the streets of NYC. Although I do imagine that if we backed up 30+ years, she would've liked these just as much as any Manolo.
These shoes are comfy, fun and colorful, and oh so sweet... and did I mention they're for little ones?!?

Of course, I had to get our best model, sweet Miss V, to show a few off for you. She's a natural, if I do say so myself!

They come in different sizes - from 0 up to 12 months! - and are handmade.
And, your little sir doesn't have to be left out. He can enjoy them also - without frills and bows, of course.

We hope that if you have any sweet peas in your life {or any on the way!} that you'll come by to pick up a pair. They're also great for shower gifts!

Bring your stroller and head on in! Can't wait to see you,
